520 _aAbsoprtion, translocation and accumulation of phosphate supplies as labelled (32P) single superphosphate, were significantly more by foliar feeding than with soil application in 25 month old Coffea arabica L. cv. S.795 and Coffea canephora Pierre cv. S.274 plants in 48 hours after the application of the radiophosphate. Metabolism of P was greater in the root system of robusta than in arabica as indicated by more quantity of phosphate accumulation. Between the two coffe species, robusta absorbed more phosphate with both the types of phosphate application than arabica. The efficiencies of foliar and soil application of superphosphate, pH of spray solution and the possible reasons for differences in absorption capacities of phosphate by arabica and robusta are discussed
