Shoot-tip survival (7 percent) after thawing was achieved when pregrowth for 3d in liquid medium with 0.5M sucrose was used, followed by 6 h of dehydration in the laminar flow. Cryopreservation of tissue-cultured tropical trees could be a realiable method for long-term preservation.

The first results of the cryopreservation of mahogany using encapsulation-deshydration are presented.
