(Chrysomelidae), Antiteuchus tripterus (Pentatomidae) and Clastoptera ochrospila (Cercopidae) found in mature cacao plantations in Ouro Preto d'Oeste, Rondonia, Brazil was evaluated. The selectivity of the products towards spiders, the predators of phytophagous insects, was also determined. The tested insecticides and their respective doses were endosulfan 35 percent (168 g a.i./ha), thrichlorfon 50 percent (240 g a.i./ha) and malathion 50 percent (240 g a.i/ha) in liquid formulations and trichlorfon 4 percent (640 g a.i./ha) and trichlorfon 3 percent (480 g a.i./ha), in dry powder formulations. Evaluations of mortality were made 8 and 24 h after application of the products. Endosulfan and trichlorfon as powder were the most efficient for the control of the groups evaluated and were more selective towars spiders.
