There was no clear trend in the variation of monthly values, however annual values were more consistent, the average for a being 0.27 and b was 0.37. the sum of a + b can be used to evaluate the coefficient of transmission of atmosphere, the value of which is normally 0.82. The value for the southeast of Bahia is 24 percent less than normal, and is consistent with that for the cacao growing areas of Africa.
