A sucessao secundaria da mata atlántica na regiao de Cubatao - SP - 1992

1 ilus. 4 tab. 14 ref. Sum. (En, Pt)

This work is an analysis of the secondary succession process in a coppice of Mata Atlantica, which survive under direct impact of atmospheric pollution from Cubataco Industrial Pole. During four years of fields attendance, it was verified one discreet decrease in the number of pioneer and secondary species, because of the death of some plants which were debilitated by pollution, while the sub-forest species incresed in number of plants. The ranges of recruiting and mortality was the same, about 18 per cent. It was concluded that, although the trees density doesn't increase and the vegetation is under constant stress by the pollution, this community is in succession, because of the increase of the diversity and the biomass, and the appearance of new species of sub-forest and secondary, like Guarea guidonia, Guapira opposita, Hirtella hebeclada and Hyeronima alchorneoides.
